You would have to go to your university and speak with the designated individuals there so that they may guide you and give you options. I am currently working on my BS for reading and language arts and I am taking the long route...others that already have their BS (in business) simply take a certification test and if they pass it, they teach!...some are for that, others against it!...find out what your options areHow do I make a career change to teaching reading and literacy?
in my area, you can't just be a reading teachers. English and reading are combined in middle school, in elem you are teaching either all subjects or english and history, and in high school, you're a regular english teacher.

you first need to find out how the districts in your area work. contact HR in area districts and ask if they do reading only classes.

With your degrees you may be able to do an ACP. check yahoo by searching your city and the words ';alternative certification';. It is a way to bypass the college degree where you internship your first year (you get observed by the ACP while having a full time teaching position).

If ACP isn't possible, you will need to get an educaitonal degree probably in Literacy education or a similar degree. Each college calls it something different and depending on the size of the program you may go for something more broad. there are masters for reading, but those are usually for reading specialists. In my area you can only be a reading specialist after 3 years in the classroom. Also, any of the reading classes in high school are usually for dyslexics and they are usually 1 prep for a regular english teacher. But each area is different, so start making calls to HR.
